The Colts A VII travelled to Stowe for the annual U11 Stowe Hockey Tournament. After a long journey up to Buckinghamshire, the group saw us take on 7 fixtures in our pool: Winchester House, Spratton Hall, The Beacon, Beachborough, Swanbourne House, Northampton School for Boys, and The Dragon. After a change to the team with M Gilligan withdrawing due to illness. B Young stepped up to join the team - he was brilliant all day. Massive congratulations.
With only 7 minutes one-way for matches. The Colts A got off to a tricky start with a draw against Winchester House. However, the ship turned and the boys got a win against Spratton Hall, winning 1-0 with a goal coming off a penalty corner by S. James tucking it in the right-hand corner. A superb goal to get the tournament underway, this is the confidence boost all the boys needed. S. James was at it again in the following game against The Beacon as he scored another to draw the game 1-1.
After a lengthy break, the team faced Beachborough and Swanbourne House. After narrowly losing 0-1 to Beachborough, the team fought back to get an excellent 2-0 win over Swanbourne House. Goals coming from Houlihan-Smith and James. The team was in fine form and motored on to yet another win against Northampton School for Boys. Goals coming from Tapping and Houlihan-Smith to take the win 2-0.
The decisive moment came down to the last game, where we faced The Dragon, who we met in the U11 IAPS Cup QF. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. The boys narrowly lost 0-1.
The team was outstanding all day and should be very proud of their efforts on and off the field of play. Finishing 3rd (tied with The Dragon) is an exceptional result. Well done to all boys who took part in what was a brilliant day of hockey.
