Moulsford 2nd XI 0-1 St Andrew's 1st XI
Moulsford 2nd XI 2-2 Holme Grange 1st XI
Today we saw two very competitive games against two 1st XI teams. We were keen to get some tight games and these were tough tests with the boys impressing in both fixtures. We kept the ball well, we played our usual patterns to get in behind the full back and defensively we were strong. Against St Andrews we were caught on the break with their keeper scooping the MOTM award with a string of breathtaking saves. We also had a goal disallowed and two cleared off the line. St Andrew's did hit the post on a breakaway but I felt our boys did everything except for scoring.
Against Holme Grange we were taught a lesson on defending corners where we conceded twice. Once to go down 1-0 and the second time, in the final minute to draw the game 2-2. I felt we played well in the attacking phase with Ossie notching a lovely 1v1 and Yani, introduced after injury treatment, scoring a breathtaking free kick to take the lead.
The boys may feel disappointed in not winning both games but it's a good reaction and shows us how much they care and felt they had done enough. We move into the final two games of the season where we face our toughest test in Lambrook (Saturday) and Summer Fields (Wednesday) to finish the season.
Let's finish strong boys, keep working hard and keep playing the 'Moulsford Way'...
Thanks to Mr and Mrs Stamoulis, Mrs Sedgwick and Mrs Jones for their support and my old friend Mr Lavine for his fine reffing and encouragement. A wonderful learning experience for our tremendous twos!
