U13 Oxfordshire County Cup (19/01/2024)

The first tournament of the season saw the 1st VII play at the U13 Oxfordshire Cup which took place at Oxford Hawks. A cold but sunny afternoon, the boys played some excellent hockey, with 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses. After 2 tough losses early on, wise words from Mr Jones and Mr Corbett saw the boys draw against New College (2-2) and Bloxham (1-1) in the next few rounds and a win against Mr Springers' Dragon team, winning 1-0. With light fading quickly, the last two rounds against Summer Fields and MCS were fast approaching. The boys put in a massive shift to overcome SF with a 4-2 win. Goals scored by O Mayer (1) and A Kind (3). A tight last game ended in a draw against MCS (0-0). The day concluded with the 1st VII taking 4th place overall.

Despite only having a few training session before the tournament, all the boys showed great passion and determination. The standards are now set and we look on to the U13 IAPS Tournament at Cheltenham College on February 2nd.
